The FE7™ & FE9™

Part of the new FE™ Series, which includes the FE7™, FE9™ and the FE9™ trainer fixed blade, with designs developed by knifemaker Jim Hammond with concepts from Arcenio James Advincula. Both steel models (The FE7 blade is 7.38 inches in length while the FE9’s measures 9 inches) feature an “aggressive” drop point blade shape with a razor-sharp, slight recurve bottom edge along with a sharpened leading top edge. The handles are of black G10, complete with pronounced finger grooves and full blade guard. Grip position is slightly angled in relation to the blade for maximum energy transfer when in use. MSRPs: $350 (FE7), $375 (FE9)

Import Knife of the Year

The Foresight

Designed by Ken Onion, this new folder was awarded the 2012 Blade Show, Import Knife of the Year. The cold-forged aluminum handle is styled and shaped with swept finger grooves and proper palm swell to provide a confident, comfortable grip. The 3.5-inch modified drop-point blade has a generous belly and re-curve cutting edge to maximize tool utility. And, the IKBS ball bearing pivot system coupled with Interframe style mechanism, make opening and closing the blade as smooth as silk. Precision ground of AUS 8 stainless steel and coated with Black Ti Nitride finish, the edge is plenty sharp. MSRP: $140

Editor’s Choice – The Foresight

I have large hands, and have often added wider grips to handled items (from tennis rackets to baseball bats) to ensure both comfort and ease of use. But from the moment CRKT’s Lindsey Phelps handed me the Foresight at the recent NRA show, I felt it was designed with myself in mind (it fits regular-sized hands just as well). Although we’ve already tested and featured it in these pages (in December 2012…we liked it then, too!), it still earns my vote. – Craig

Chogan™ and Kangee™ T-Hawks

Tomahawks have been tactical military mainstays for generations, and the Ryan Johnson designed Chogan™ and Kangee™ T-Hawks carry on the tradition. Perfect tools for breaching, emergency extractions and more, the T-Hawks are shaped of a single-piece of steel with a curved handle and grip choils along the front for enhanced holding power. Full-length handle scales are checkered for added grip traction, and can be removed for cleaning. Two different tool head styles (the Chogan™ has an axe edge front and hammer, while the Kangee™ has an axe edge front and spike) offer their own advantages depending on your application needs. MSRP: $185
