Missouri-based AR-15, .22 LR conversion kit and rifle accessories manufacturer CMMG has announced its new line of AR-15-style pistols and SBRs. Called the Banshee line, this new range of pistols and rifles are scheduled to hit the market sometime in mid-April. The Banshee line is comprised of AR-15-style pistols and SBRs chambered in .22 LR, 9mm, .45 ACP, and.300 BLK. Unlike AR-15s, the Banshees will have CMMG’s patent-pending Radial Delayed Blowback system in lieu of a conventional blowback system. This system allows for a lighter buffer and carrier, and the recoil is significantly less than an AR pistol or SBR with a typical straight blowback design, making the .45 ACP and 9mm models more controllable.

The M-LOK handguard on each Banshee allows for a variety of attachments and configurations
(TheFirearmBlog.com/blog/2018/04/18/cmmg-unleashes-banshee/).

The lightweight and ultra-compact models with 4.5 and 5-inch barrels are the shortest guns that CMMG has created to date, and these can be used in a number of applications like target-plinking, competition, personal and home defense, or any other application that would require a shortened firearm. Apart from their extreme portability and maneuverability, another advantage of the Banshee, at least for the 9mm and .45 ACP models, is that it can be easy to “feed” since these variants use Glock magazines.

A Banshee can be an effective PDW stowed in your vehicle (TheFirearmBlog.com/blog/2018/04/18/cmmg-unleashes-banshee/).

The Banshee can also be had in NFA-compliant SBR form, with an 8-inch barrel. These come with a Magpul MVG Foregrip, as well as CMMG’s new patent-pending buttstock, the RipStock. The Ripstock looks somewhat similar to a pared-down AR buttstock, except it has two patent-pending features: FASTBACK, which lets the user extend the stock all the way without a release lever, and P3, a feature that lets users adjust a screw in any one of five slots to “set” the stock to extend to the user’s exact desired length each time they deploy it.

Other standard features of the Banshees are an ambidextrous proprietary charging handle, picatinny rails, M-LOK handguard, ambidextrous sling plate, ambidextrous safety and all models will be in a Premier Cerakote finish. The AR Pistol models will be fitted with a Tailhook Mod 2 Brace. Prices of the Banshee models range from $1,149.95 to $1,449.95.
