The Henry Repeating Arms company recently exhibited what appears to be prototypes of as-yet-to-be-mass-produced rifle and shotgun at the NRAAM 2018 in Dallas. Dubbed the X-series concept lever-action rifle and shotgun, these two new concept guns were put together to “emphasize the modularity of the Henry Lever-Action platform.” Henry reps were also quick to point out that these are intended to be their “contemporary interpretation of the quintessential American Rifle.”
The Henry X1 Concept Rifle is actually a “modernized” 45-70 lever-action rifle. It incorporates their all-weather stock, an M-LOK Handguard from Midwest Industries, and a Picatinny rail with a Leupold Optics Red Dot on it.
A post on Henry’s Instagram page featuring the concept rifle says:
“For those of you who didn’t know you needed a Henry Lever-Action in your life, pay attention. Henry X is a one-off series of concept rifles representing our contemporary interpretation of the quintessential American Rifle. Introducing the Henry X1 Concept, a build meant to emphasize the modularity of the Henry Lever-Action Platform.
Based on our 45-70 model, the Henry X1 features all-weather stocks, a @midwestindustries M-Lok handguard, and @leupoldoptics Red Dot. Brush gun, truck gun or big game getter, the Henry Lever-Action platform is up to the task.
So let us know, should we build it?”
Henry also showed off their X2 Concept Shotgun, a .410 bore lever-action shotgun that has a large loop lever, M-LOK Handguard, fiber optic sights and Briley Manufacturing choke.
Their Instagram post says:
“The second model in our Henry X concept line, the X2 is based on our .410 bore lever-action shotgun. Featuring our large loop lever, fiber-optic sights, custom @brileymfg choke, and the @midwestindustries M-Lok handguard, the X2 is the last word in lever gun versatility.”
Of course, there are no release dates or prices for either of these guns, as they remain “concept guns”, but Henry would like to know if you’d like to have these guns go into full production. You can signify your interest at their Instagram page.
UPDATE: As of May 9, Henry’s Instagram page has received an overwhelming positive response to the concept rifles, and have said they will introduce a THIRD concept rifle “for the purists.” The relevant post can be seen here.
