Nemo Arms, or New Evolution Military Ordnance, recently announced its latest offering, a pistol designated as the Monark 9mm. What makes this offering unusual for a company like Nemo Arms is that it’s a company that’s built its business from manufacturing AR-15 receivers, AR-15 rifles and pistols in calibers other than the usual 5.56mm, a couple of bolt-action rifles, suppressors, AR receivers in custom finishes, various gun parts and accessories. You can view their product pages, starting from here. The Monark is chambered in 9mm Luger, a round well-suited to first-time shooters due to its compactness, decent performance for personal defense, popularity, low recoil and low cost. It also helps that the Monark 9mm is very contemporary in its design, and will definitely garner some curious, if not admiring looks at the range once it’s available.

Perhaps the most striking model of the Monark 9mm is the MK-9MM-5SFTB-B. It incorporates most of the sought-after innovative features many shooters look for today, such as the fiber-optic front sight, threaded barrel, Trijicon RMR, flared magwell, underbarrel rails, Ambidextrous mag release, Glock-style trigger safety, fore and aft cocking serrations and mini red dot sight adapter plate system. What may make or break this pistol is its price point, which has yet to be revealed
(NemoArms.com/monark-mk-9mm-5sftb-b).

Given this list of standard features, the Monark 9mm will likely appeal to shooters who want a handgun that’s optic-ready (and for three of the models, suppressor-ready) straight out of the box. While an MSRP has yet to be announced, it’s likely that the Monark 9mm will be at a higher price point than other run-of-the-mill pistols, judging by the features. Whether this tactical-style pistol that looks quite a bit like Springfield’s XD(M) OSP (which we featured a while back) will carve a good niche for itself, remains to be seen.
